A tree plantation program was held in Nabinagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria on yesterday as part of the national campaign to plant 250 million trees over five years, announced by the Prime Minister, with the aim of protecting the environment and expanding green cover.
The program was organized by the Nabinagar Upazila Administration. The event was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rakibul Islam, while local Member of Parliament Advocate Abdul Mannan attended as the chief guest.
In his speech, the MP highlighted the importance of tree plantation in maintaining ecological balance and protecting the environment.
He later formally inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling and watering it.
Officials of the upazila administration, local political leaders and prominent residents attended the program.
Local residents welcomed the initiative, saying such activities are essential for environmental conservation and strengthening resilience against natural disasters.
