Discussion meeting on the occasion of World Population Day celebration in Barisal

A discussion meeting was held in Barisal on the occasion of World Population Day 2026. World Population Day was celebrated in Barisal with the theme 'Let's implement the hopes and aspirations of youth, build a beautiful future with today's conviction'. A discussion meeting was held at the Circuit House conference room at 9:30 am on Wednesday, July 15, organized by the Barisal Divisional Family Planning Office. 

At the meeting, Barisal Divisional Commissioner Khalil Ahmed said that planned families should be formed to turn the country's population into skilled human resources. Sustainable development of the country can be ensured only if the young generation is made skilled in modern technology to utilize the demographic dividend. 

He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the discussion meeting on the occasion of World Population Day. The Divisional Commissioner said, our goal should be to build a planned, talented and technology-based family to build a prosperous Bangladesh. Not only population growth, but also the development of skilled human resources should be given utmost importance. 

Young people have the talent, innovative ability and the ability to quickly master new technologies. We must use this potential to work to create a modern and technology-based skilled workforce. Mehboob Morshed, Deputy Director of Barisal District Family Planning Office, delivered a welcome speech at the event. 

The event was chaired by Md. Abdur Razzak, Director of Barisal Divisional Family Planning Office, and was attended by Divisional Health (Acting) Director Dr. Mohammad Lokman Hakim, BMP Deputy Police Commissioner Sushanta Sarkar, Civil Surgeon Dr. S. M. Manjur-e-Elahi, special guest speakers. 

Barisal Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Farida Sultana, Char Fashion Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rumana Afroz also spoke at the event. Representatives of government and non-governmental development organizations, young generation and media workers were present at the time. After the discussion meeting, the guests presented awards to the best workers working at the Barisal divisional, district and upazila levels.
