Later, in an open discussion, Member Secretary of the newly formed convening committee of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila BNP, Md. Fazlul Kabir Dara, proposed to send those involved in various drug cases to jail under a special law if necessary to prevent the spread of drugs in the district, because drug dealers are running this business very cleverly.
Although the District Narcotics Control Department, including the police, and various law enforcement agencies have carried out raids and arrested drug dealers and sent them to jail through the court Within a few days of being sent to jail, they were released on bail from the High Court and are running the same business again, which is going to be a bad sign for the future generations and an obstacle to building a healthy nation.
Gopalganj Sadar Upazila BNP Convener, Public Prosecutor (PP) of the District Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, Advocate Md. Taufiqul Islam, called for strengthening police patrols in all upazilas of the district to prevent cow theft in addition to eradicating drugs.
District Jamaat-e-Islam Ameer Principal MM Rezaul Karim sought the intervention of the district administration to ensure the safety of people of all classes and professions, including children, from the sudden occurrence of stray dogs and their attacks at this time of the year. He requested to prevent the valuable government land of the district council from being gradually taken over by some unscrupulous groups due to the lack of proper supervision of the administration.
He also questioned the quality of water supplied by the municipality, which is murky and smelly and is not available in big markets. As trucks carrying goods are loaded and unloaded on the surrounding roads, there is always traffic jams everywhere, especially in the surrounding areas including the fish market. A buyer sought the cooperation of the administration to ensure that the market is always open and safe.
To make Gopalganj city free from traffic jams, SM Moudud Hossain Rintu, General Secretary of the District Bus and Minibus Owners Association, called for making Gopalganj city free from traffic jams.
Human rights and media activist KM Saifur Rahman called for the immediate repair of about 90 percent of the roads in the municipal area that are unusable in the new fiscal year. He also demanded strict legal action against unscrupulous sand traders who are boring various places on the Gopalganj-Tekerhat regional road and damaging the road built at a cost of about 600 crore taka.
At this time, District Civil Surgeon Dr. Abu Sayeed Md. Faruk said that according to the instructions of the High Court, dogs cannot be killed, but everyone should move carefully. He also said that this problem will be resolved within the next 15 days and if the work of the Charmanikdah water plant in Sadar Upazila is completely repaired at a cost of about 10 crore taka, this problem will no longer exist from next year.
Gopalganj District BNP convener and Zilla Parishad administrator Bir Muktijoddha Sharif Rafiquzzaman said in an open discussion that effective measures will be taken to free the various encroached lands of the Zilla Parishad soon and generate government revenue. He also said that the Gopalganj Roads and Highways Department has implemented a project worth about 600 crore taka to build Tekerhat- He expressed regret over various irregularities, corruption and road quality of the Gopalganj-Ghonapara regional road widening project and requested the concerned authorities to check the quality of the road.
District Superintendent of Police Md. Habibullah said in an open discussion that the district police always has zero tolerance for drug eradication. He also said that if any police member's name comes to the fore in the matter of drug eradication, strict action will be taken against them subject to investigation.
He also requested the PP of the Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal, who was present at the monthly meeting of the District Law and Order Committee on the instructions of the judicial court in several rape cases in the district, to consider the matter and give directions to record the case after investigating the rape cases in the interest of justice. Many innocent people will be saved from being victims of harassment.
The District Superintendent of Police also proudly said that unlike other districts, there are almost no political attack cases in Gopalganj district.
