A grand Jashne Julus (procession) and doa mahfil were held in Kishoreganj on Saturday to mark Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SA), commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The procession, jointly organized by the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi Jashne Julus Celebration Council and the district Sunni Cyber Team, began from the historic Sholakia Eidgah Maidan around 11am. Hundreds of devout Muslims from different sections of society joined the colorful procession, carrying banners, festoons and flags and chanting slogans welcoming the arrival of the Prophet (PBUH).
The procession passed through major streets of the town before ending at the Gurudayal Government College field, where a brief rally, milad and special doa were held.
Among those who addressed the gathering were District Parishad Administrator Khaled Saifullah Sohel, former district BNP vice-president Ismail Hossain Madhu, Pir Syed Yachin of Tarfia Darbar Sharif, Anisur Rahman, district chief of Atroshi Darbar Sharif workers, Pir Shafiqul Islam of Patdha Darbar, and Tanvir Ahmed Alamin, member-secretary of the Jashne Julus Celebration Council.
Speakers called upon Muslims to follow the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in their personal and social lives.
The programme concluded with a special prayer seeking peace, progress and prosperity for the country, its people and the wider Muslim Ummah.
