The Dhaka University Amar Ekushey Hall Unit of Badhan, a voluntary blood donation organisation, held a reception for freshers and honoured regular blood donors at the hall auditorium on Monday.
Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Mohammad Almojadedi Alfechani attended the event as chief guest.
Amar Ekushey Hall Provost Prof Dr Mohammad Jasim Uddin attended as special guest, while Dr Iqbal Ahmed, joint director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, delivered the keynote speech.
The programme was chaired by Amar Ekushey Hall Unit Badhan President Abdul Ahad Hossain. Adviser Prof Dr Md Mohsin delivered the welcome address, while programme convener S.M. Tanzim Uddin Rumi gave the vote of thanks. General Secretary Md Ashfarul Alam Dipto moderated the event.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor urged students to engage in humanitarian and social activities such as blood donation, saying blood donation should be turned into a social movement.
Twenty-five students of Amar Ekushey Hall were honoured with crests for donating the highest amounts of blood. They included Md Daniel Hossain Bappi, Shams Sharif Apurba, Md Asadul Haque, Md Abdullah Al Zahin, Md Fahim Shahriar, Saikat Ahmed, Md Monowar Hossain, Md Rabiul Haque, Md Monir Hossain, Md Sajal Hossain, Md Badhan Islam, Md Rajimul Islam, Nur Mohammad Sabuj, Mondol Mohammad Sultan, Abdullah Al Mamun, Tahmid Ahmed Twaran, Abdur Rab, Md Yasin Arafat, Md Abdullah Shadid Chowdhury, Md Rabiul Islam, Hasibul Hasan, Musa Mondol, Mahbubul Hasan, Md Talha Zubair and Md Abu Hasan Zahid.
