District Commissioner (DC) Sohana Nasrin has ordered all coaching centres in Kishoreganj to remain closed from 8am to 4pm, during regular educational institution hours.
Speaking at a meeting with heads of educational institutions at the Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila Parishad conference room on Wednesday, the DC said the directive would take effect immediately and be strictly enforced.
“Many people are running coaching centres while educational institutions are open. From today, no coaching centre will operate between 8am and 4pm,” she said, urging teachers and education officials to actively cooperate in implementing the decision.
The meeting, organised by Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila administration, focused on improving the quality of education. Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Kamrul Hasan Maruf chaired the meeting.
The DC also issued several other directives, including increasing student attendance, ensuring teachers’ presence, gradually introducing digital attendance systems, and banning mobile phone use by students on educational institution premises.
She instructed institutions to properly enforce the decision barring students who fail selection examinations from appearing in subsequent examinations. She also called for weekly cleanliness drives, stronger communication with parents, student databases, increased registration in the “Notun Kuri” programme, and the formation of debate, mathematics and English clubs.
Additional District Commissioner (Education and ICT) Jesmin Akter, Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nazmus Sama, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md Asadul Haque, Upazila Primary Education Officer Momtaz Begum, and heads of government primary schools, secondary schools, madrasas and colleges attended the meeting.
