A Jamalpur-bound truck first ran over the motorcycle before crashing into the easy bike travelling ahead of it.
The three family members died on the spot as the easy bike was crushed, while three others sustained serious injuries.
The injured were rushed to Jamalpur General Hospital, where doctors declared motorcyclist Likhon dead. One of the injured was identified as Hazrat Ali, 35, of Shihata. The other person's identity has yet to be established.
Both injured passengers were later transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Police recovered the bodies and took them to the police station. Local residents detained the truck driver and seized the vehicle as he attempted to flee after the accident, the OC said.
