Unico Hospitals PLC successfully organized the National Workshop on Critical Care Nursing 2026 under the theme "Advancing Excellence in Critical Care Nursing." The workshop brought together nursing professionals from hospitals across Bangladesh to strengthen their clinical knowledge, competencies, and practical skills in delivering safe, evidence-based, and high quality care to critically ill patients.
The workshop was inaugurated by Ms. Halima Akhter, Registrar of the Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC), as the Chief Guest. The event was chaired by Ms. Elizabeth Jothi, Chief of Nursing Service, Unico Hospitals PLC, while Ms. Ardra Kurien, Chief Executive Officer, Unico Hospitals PLC, served as the Chief Patron.
The workshop was also graced by Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. Md. Sharif Ahmed, Chief Medical
Services (CMS), Unico Hospitals PLC; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Omar Faruq, Founding President of the Bangladesh Society of Critical Care Medicine (BSCCM); Dr. Umme Qulsum, Consultant, Critical Care Medicine, Unico Hospitals PLC; Mr. Ahasan Habib, National Nurse Specialist, ProNurse Project, Cowater International, Canada; and Dr. Nahida Akhter, PhD, President, Critical Care Nursing Society of Bangladesh (CCNSB), along with other distinguished clinicians and nursing leaders.
Renowned experts delivered scientific sessions on the fundamentals of critical care nursing,
critical patient assessment, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, airway and ventilator
management, care of mechanically ventilated patients, and ICU crisis management. Participants also received hands-on training in CPR and defibrillation, crash cart management, endotracheal tube (ETT) care, suction techniques, mechanical ventilator management and troubleshooting, and pressure ulcer prevention. A post-test and quiz competition were conducted, followed by the distribution of certificates and awards to outstanding participants.
Through this initiative, Unico Hospitals PLC reaffirmed its commitment to advancing nursing excellence, promoting continuous professional development, and strengthening the quality and safety of critical care services in Bangladesh.
