Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-5) arrested one person and seized 387 Yaba tablets along with counterfeit banknotes worth BDT 93,000 during a raid in Keshorhat Bazar under Mohanpur Upazila of Rajshahi. Another suspect managed to flee the scene.
According to RAB-5, acting on confidential information, a team from the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) conducted the operation at around 7:30 pm on Sunday (June 28) on the second floor of the Samobay School Market in Keshorhat Bazar, Haridagachi Mouza.
During the raid, RAB arrested Md. Nayeb Ali (43) from an office of Lal Golap Samobay Samity Limited, while another suspect, Md. Shahidullah (Raju) (55), escaped.
RAB claimed that 387 Yaba tablets and counterfeit notes amounting to BDT 93,000 were recovered from the possession of the arrested suspect. The seized items were confiscated following legal procedures in the presence of independent witnesses.
According to RAB's preliminary investigation, the arrested individual is a listed drug trafficker in the area. He had allegedly been collecting Yaba tablets and counterfeit currency from border areas and supplying them to both wholesale and retail drug dealers across Rajshahi district.
RAB-5 further said that a regular case has been filed with Mohanpur Police Station under the relevant laws.
