The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has re-fixed and adjusted the consumer-level price of furnace oil (HFO). According to the new adjustment, the price of furnace oil has been set at Tk. 109.10 per liter. This new rate will come into effect from 12:00 AM tonight (midnight of June 30, 2026) and will remain in force until further notice.
The information was confirmed in a press release signed by BERC Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam Sarkar. According to the notification, the newly adjusted price will apply to the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), public and private power plants, industrial factories, and all other consumers.
The press release stated that the commission had previously issued an order on February 22, 2026, following public hearings and a detailed analysis of proposals submitted by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and oil marketing companies (Padma Oil Company Limited, Meghna Petroleum Limited, Jamuna Oil Company Limited, and Standard Asiatic Oil Company Limited). That order stipulated that consumer-level furnace oil prices would be adjusted by the commission every three months or as deemed necessary.
To facilitate the price adjustment, BERC formed a special committee on March 15, 2026. The committee recommended adjusting the furnace oil price for July 2026 after evaluating the average Platts Rate of imported refined furnace oil from May 13 to June 29, 2026, the FOB value of crude oil for the months of May-June 2026, and fluctuations in the US Dollar exchange rate.
In a special commission meeting held today, June 30, 2026, the commission officially approved the adjusted price of Tk. 109.10 per liter based on the committee's recommendations and market analysis.
The commission further informed that the detailed notification regarding the price re-fixation and the full order have been uploaded to the official website of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (www.berc.org.bd).
