Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) on Wednesday launched a Japanese language training programme for 520 women VDP members at 13 training centres across the country, aiming to enhance their skills and expand overseas employment opportunities.
Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, inaugurated the 90-day Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT N5) course through a virtual ceremony.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Director General said the initiative is not merely a language course but a comprehensive programme designed to develop skilled human resources and economically empower women by preparing them for the global job market.
He said the programme would provide integrated support ranging from Japanese language training to post-training employment opportunities, accommodation, and other necessary assistance for participants seeking jobs in Japan.
The Director General urged the trainees to make the best use of the residential training environment by communicating regularly in Japanese to improve their language proficiency. He expressed hope that the 90-day course would equip participants with knowledge of Japanese language, culture, social values, and workplace practices, enabling them to compete successfully in the international labour market.
The training is being conducted at the Ansar-VDP Academy in Gazipur, the VTC in Nawabganj (Dhaka), and District Commandant Offices in Faridpur, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Thakurgaon, Kushtia, Chattogram, Feni, Naogaon, Habiganj, Chandpur, and Cox's Bazar.
The programme is being implemented in partnership with Skill Up and ADSEC Bangladesh. Skill Up will provide Japanese language and skills training, while ADSEC Bangladesh, an affiliate of Japan's ADSEC Group, will facilitate employment, accommodation, and other support services for successful trainees in Japan.
Japan currently offers significant employment opportunities for foreign workers in sectors including caregiving, hospitality, food processing, agriculture, and food services, where Japanese language proficiency at the JLPT N5 level is widely regarded as a basic qualification.
Bangladesh Ansar and VDP expects the initiative, being implemented during the 2026-27 fiscal year, to strengthen women's professional and language skills, expand overseas employment opportunities, promote economic empowerment, and contribute to developing a skilled workforce capable of representing Bangladesh in the global labour market.
Range Commanders, District Commandants, other officials of the force, and trainees joined the inauguration ceremony virtually.
