The International Crimes Tribunal-2 has accepted formal charges against 11 people, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in a crimes against humanity case over the killing of Ekramul Haque in an alleged crossfire in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.
The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, on Sunday issued arrest warrants for eight of the accused and ordered three others already in custody to be produced before the court.
The prosecution, represented by Prosecutor Zahirul Amin, presented the formal charges and sought the tribunal's approval to proceed with the case.
Following the hearing, the tribunal took the charges into cognizance, ordered the production of the detained accused, and issued arrest warrants for those absconding. The next hearing has been scheduled for August 25.
