Three alleged members of a broker syndicate were arrested at the Mirpur BRTA office in Dhaka on Tuesday while allegedly taking money from service seekers by promising to expedite their services.
The suspects were detained by Ansar personnel during a surprise operation at the BRTA office in Kafrul area of Dhaka. The operation was led by Police Constable Md Khorshed Alam, along with APC Al Mizan and Ansar members Sohel, Manik, Rokonuzzaman and Nayan Chandra.
The arrested individuals were later produced before a mobile court headed by Magistrate Md Sajid Anwar. After examining the evidence, the court sentenced two of them to 30 days in jail and another to 20 days of imprisonment without labour.
The three were subsequently handed over to police for further legal proceedings.
Ansar and Village Defence Force personnel continue to work to maintain security and prevent irregularities at important government service facilities across the country.
