A joint team of RAB-3 and RAB-7 arrested Md. Masudul Karim alias Masud Mia alias “Killer Masud,” 55, a close associate of notorious criminal Pichchi Hannan and a 14-year sentenced fugitive in an arms case, from Chattogram on August 18.
The arrest was made at around 11:50pm from the Pathantuli Nazma Mansion area under Double Mooring Police Station in Chattogram city.
According to RAB, Masud was convicted under Section 19(F) of the Arms Act in a 2007 arms case filed with Faridganj Police Station in Chandpur and sentenced to 14 years’ rigorous imprisonment by a court.
Following his conviction, Masud had remained on the run for 19 years, allegedly changing his name, appearance and identity while moving between different parts of the country.
Acting on a requisition from Faridganj Police Station, an RAB-3 intelligence team traced his whereabouts and, with assistance from RAB-7, arrested him in Chattogram.
Legal action has been taken against the arrested convict, RAB said.
