An alleged thief was caught red-handed while attempting to steal iron angles from a children’s park in the Hatirjheel area of Dhaka on Friday.
The incident took place around 10:30am at the Rajuk children’s park near Moghbazar-Bahir Road under the Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar (DMA) West Zone.
According to sources, Ansar member Md Zahidul Islam noticed a man behaving suspiciously in the park and kept him under observation. Later, when the man entered the park and attempted to steal iron angles, patrolling Ansar members Md Mizanur Rahman, Md Tamim and Fakir Saiful joined Zahidul and caught him at the scene.
The detainee was identified as Md Alif, son of Mamun Mia of Rainunda village in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur.
He was later handed over to Hatirjheel Police Station for legal action.
The Ansar members’ prompt action prevented the theft and demonstrated their vigilance in protecting public property and preventing crime.
