Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, SGP, BAM, NDU, AFWC and PSC, has said the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party will be developed into a stronger and self-reliant institution, with initiatives already underway to strengthen its operational capacity and accelerate activities across the country.
He made the remarks at a media briefing organised on Thursday ahead of the Durga Puja celebrations.
“We have already started working towards building Ansar into a strong and self-reliant institution,” he said, highlighting ongoing efforts to enhance the force’s capabilities and improve the pace of its activities nationwide.
The director general emphasised the need to strengthen the organisation’s operational capacity and equip it to perform its responsibilities more effectively. The ongoing initiatives are aimed at improving its institutional strength and ensuring that its members can carry out their duties with greater efficiency.
The briefing was organised in connection with the security arrangements for the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja, one of the largest religious festivals celebrated in Bangladesh.
Ansar and Village Defence Party members play an important role in maintaining security at religious festivals and other public gatherings. Their deployment at Puja mandaps across the country is part of broader efforts to ensure peaceful celebrations and protect worshippers.
The director general’s remarks come as the authorities focus on strengthening security preparations for Durga Puja. A stronger and better-equipped Ansar force is expected to contribute to maintaining public order and supporting security arrangements during major national and religious events.
