A day-long workshop on the use of biopesticides for sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, and public health safety was held in Sreemangal of Moulvibazar district.
The event was organized by BRAC Seed and Agro Enterprise on Saturday at the Upazila Agricultural Training Centre.
The workshop highlighted the importance of biopesticides as an alternative to chemical pesticides.
Discussions focused on their effectiveness, benefits, and role in promoting eco-friendly farming practices.
Experts stated that the use of biopesticides helps preserve soil fertility, improve crop quality, and significantly reduce health risks for humans and environmental damage. Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md. Alauddin attended the event as the chief guest. Among others present were Additional Agriculture Officer Masukur Rahman, Regional Manager of BRAC Seed and Agro Enterprise Md. Anisur Rahman, Territory Officer Shaon Hawladar, PDS Officer Md. Ruhul Amin, and seed dealer Md. Sohel Khan.
The workshop was supervised by Agriculturist Abul Kashem Shahriar, Territory Officer of Moulvibazar District.
Approximately 60 model farmers, both men and women, from different unions of Sreemangal Upazila participated in the day-long training. Participants gained practical knowledge about the application, effectiveness, and real-life experiences of using biopesticides in the field.
Organizers expressed hope that the training would encourage farmers to adopt environmentally friendly agricultural practices and play a vital role in ensuring safe food production in the future.
