Munshiganj journalists have set a seven-day deadline for a protest and human chain demanding the withdrawal of a false case against a journalist in Munshiganj and for the administration to take action against the employee accused of accepting bribes. The human chain was organized by the Munshiganj Press Club on Sunday around 12 noon on the main road in front of the Press Club. Members of all journalist organizations and conscious citizens of Munshiganj district were present in the human chain.

At this time, a demand was made to dismiss the employee who accepted bribes within seven working days. Otherwise, an ultimatum was given to stop presenting news from all departments including the Munshiganj administration and the Civil Surgeon's Office.

It is learned that NTV's Munshiganj staff reporter and publisher and editor of the local daily Munshiganj Som newspaper, Moinuddin Ahmed Sumon, and Munshiganj correspondent of the Daily Bangladesh Correspondent, Abu Sayeed Dewan Sourav, were arrested for publishing news including a video of accepting bribes against stenographer Mizanur Rahan at the Munshiganj Civil Surgeon's Office. To cover up the incident, bribe-taking stenotypist Mizanur Rahman filed a false case against the two journalists.

The speakers at the human chain said,
Stenotypist Md. Mizanur Rahman has established a reign of bribery in the Munshiganj Civil Office for 38 years. How can a third-class employee work in the same workplace for 38 years even after being transferred several times? According to Mizan, the Munshiganj Health Department is hostage to his corruption. There is no diagnostic center or clinic in the district that has not been tortured due to his corruption. Who or what is involved in this? Who received the bribe money? The District Administrator must answer this. He demanded the withdrawal of the false case and strongly protested against the harassment. He also demanded the dismissal of the employee who accepted the bribe.

At this time, Munshiganj Press Club President Atiqur Rahman Tipur was also present in the chair, Vice President Mahabub Alam Liton, Jasim Uddin Dewan, General Secretary Golzar Hossain, Former President Kazi Sabbir Ahmed Dipu, Former General Secretary Sujan Haider Joni, Organizing Secretary Rajibul Hasan Jewel, Former General Secretary ATN News Bhabatosh Chowdhury Nupur, Treasurer Muhammad Saifur Rahman, Literary Editor Nazrul Hasan Choton, Executive Editor Mahabub Alam Liton, Mamunur Rashid Khoka, District Correspondent of Rupali Bangladesh Newspaper Md. Farhad Mia and many news workers were present.
