Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) have arrested a man along with approximately 76 kilograms of cannabis in Kurigram's Phulbari upazila. The arrested individual has been identified as Atikur Rahman Nayan (50), son of the late Fazlul Haque, a resident of Purba Phulmati village under Naodanga Union. The information was confirmed in a press release signed by Biplob Kumar Goswami, Additional Superintendent of Police and Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13, Rangpur.
According to the press release, RAB-13 has been conducting ongoing anti-drug operations. Acting on a tip-off, a raid was carried out around 4:00 AM on Sunday at the suspect's residence in Purba Phulmati village.
During the operation, 76 kg of cannabis was recovered from under a bed in his bedroom.
The suspect was arrested along with the seized drugs and later handed over to Phulbari Police Station.
RAB officials stated that their intelligence operations and anti-narcotics operation will continue as part of their zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
