The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) is hosting a three-day Earth Day celebration from 20 to 22 April 2026, convening students, faculty, and national and international experts for a series of sessions and activities focused on advancing sustainability and driving action towards a greener future. The initiative underscores ULAB's commitment to environmental stewardship and global engagement. The programme features two seminars on 21 April, addressing major global and national priorities.
The first seminar, 'Preparing for Global Careers in the Era of Artificial Intelligence', was delivered by Dr Zheng Li, Associate Professor at East China Normal University, and focused on equipping students with skills for an AI-driven global job market. The second seminar, 'Government Guarantee: Catalyst for the Success of Investment and Financing Renewable Power Projects in Bangladesh', was presented by Han Kun, Country Head of PowerChina Bangladesh and President of the Chinese Enterprise Association in Bangladesh. The session highlighted the critical role of policy support and financing in advancing renewable energy investment in Bangladesh.
Reflecting on the significance of the seminars and the broader initiative, Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, Vice-Chancellor of ULAB, emphasised the university's commitment to fostering global dialogue and empowering students to address pressing environmental and technological challenges. The celebration aligns with the spirit of Earth Day, observed annually on 22 April, and reaffirms ULAB's role as a platform for knowledge exchange, innovation, and sustainable action.
