The development work of the "Tepakhola Lake Development Project," undertaken by the government to transform it into one of the major tourist attractions in Faridpur, has reached around 60 percent completion, officials said.
The information was shared on Wednesday afternoon after a site inspection by newly appointed District Council Administrator Md. Afzal Hossain Khan Palash, along with officials from the District Council, Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), and the project team. At around 12:30 PM, the officials visited and reviewed the progress of the project. Later, Administrator Md. Afzal Hossain Khan Palash stated that although the project was initially approved in 2024 during the previous government with a budget of Tk 220 crore, the allocation was later reduced to Tk 87 crore. The development work is currently being implemented under five packages.

, with approximately 55 to 60 percent of the work already completed. He added that the contractors have been instructed to expedite the remaining work to ensure timely completion.
He further mentioned that once completed, the project is expected to become one of the leading tourist attractions in Faridpur and the southern region of Bangladesh, which will generate significant government revenue. However, he expressed the opinion that increasing the allocation would have allowed for a more comprehensive development.
During the inspection, Tepakhola Lake Development Project Team Leader Sazzad Hossain, LGED Executive Engineer Mohammad Azharul Islam, District Council Chief Executive Officer Md. Bakaheed Hossain, Senior Assistant Engineer Liaquat Hossain, Sadar Upazila Engineer Md. Delwar Hossain, and other officials were present.
