As the intense summer heat makes the surroundings dull and lifeless in Sreemangal town, nature has brought a refreshing change with the blooming of the beautiful Cassia Javanica tree.
Locally known as "Lal Sonail," this tree is considered a wonderful gift of nature. Its pink and deep red blossoms have created a unique scenic charm across the area. A fully bloomed Cassia tree located in front of an online point on College Road has now become a visual attraction.
Its umbrella-like branches and cascading clusters of flowers can be seen from afar. Pedestrians, students, and even tourists often stop for a moment to admire its beauty. Many take photos, while others silently enjoy the soothing presence of nature.
Cassia Javanica belongs to the Fabaceae family and is mainly found in South and Southeast Asia, though it is now cultivated in many tropical regions around the world, including Bangladesh, India, and Myanmar.
Summer is the peak blooming season for this tree, when it displays its full beauty. Besides "Lal Sonail," it is also known by names such as Java Cassia, Pink Shower Tree, Apple Blossom Tree, and Rainbow Shower Tree. Within just a few years, the tree has grown large, spreading its branches widely and forming a natural canopy. At present, the tree is covered almost entirely in flowers, often outnumbering its leaves. With gentle breezes, the flowers sway beautifully, creating a calming atmosphere that brings peace and comfort to passersby. Nature lovers say that amid the concrete crowd of the city, such a tree feels like a piece of paradise. It not only enhances beauty but also reconnects people with nature. Many people spend time under the tree and share its photos on social media.
Experts believe that ornamental trees like this play a vital role in maintaining environmental balance while also contributing to mental well-being.
Overall, the Cassia tree on College Road has become more than just a tree-it is now a symbol of beauty, peace, and nature in Sreemangal.
