An 11-year-old madrasah student has been left seven months pregnant following a series of alleged rapes by her teacher in Netrokona's Madan upazila. While a case was filed on 30 April, the accused, Aman Ullah, remains at large.
The victim’s family alleges the abuse began on 2 November last year at a women's Qawmi madrasah established by the suspect. According to the FIR, Aman Ullah targeted the girl after classes, forcing her into a room and threatening to kill her family if she spoke out. The assault reportedly continued multiple times over several months.
Critical Medical Risks
The incident was discovered only after the girl’s mother, a domestic worker in Sylhet, returned home and noticed her daughter’s declining health. A medical examination on 18 April confirmed the pregnancy.
Dr. Sayma Akter, the examining physician, highlighted the extreme danger to the child's life:
Physical Stature: The girl is less than 4.5 feet tall and weighs only 29 kg.
Medical Complications: Her hemoglobin is critically low (8.2), and the fetus's head size already exceeds the width of her narrow pelvis.
Surgical Risk: A natural birth is impossible, and performing a C-section on a child of her size presents severe anesthetic challenges.
Search for the Suspect
Aman Ullah reportedly fled with his wife and children on 18 April, shortly after the pregnancy was discovered. His mobile phone remains switched off.
The newly appointed Officer-in-Charge of Madan Police Station, Md Tariqul Islam, confirmed that operations are currently underway to arrest the fugitive. "I have learned of the case and we are actively working to bring the accused into custody," he stated.
The victim's mother, who was raising four children alone after being abandoned by her husband, has called for "exemplary punishment" for the teacher she once trusted with her daughter's education.
