Ten college and madrasa units of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) in Kishoreganj have been served show-cause notices for allegedly remaining inactive and failing to implement a centrally announced party programme.
The notices, issued on Monday (June 15), warned the committees to explain within 48 hours why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for violating party discipline.
According to separate letters signed by Kishoreganj District Chhatra Dal Organising Secretary Rahat Islam Sagar from the district office at Rothkhola, the affected units include Hossendi Adarsha Degree College, Nikli Muktijoddha Adarsha Government Degree College, Bajitpur Government College, Katiadi Government College, Tarail Muktijoddha Government College, Kuliarchar Government College, Hoybatnagar A.U. Kamil Madrasa, Austagram Government Rotary Degree College, Government Women’s College, and Muktijoddha Abdul Haque Government College Chhatra Dal branches.
The notices state that the committees failed to properly carry out the programme announced by the central Chhatra Dal leadership. As a result, the concerned leaders have been asked to appear in person and submit written explanations within 48 hours.
The presidents, general secretaries, conveners, senior joint conveners and member secretaries of the accused committees have been directed to present their explanations before Kishoreganj District Chhatra Dal President Shariful Islam Nishad and General Secretary Rafiul Islam Nowsad.
District Chhatra Dal President Shariful Islam Nishad and General Secretary Rafiul Islam Nowsad said there is no place in the organisation for inactive or ineffective leadership.
“Implementing centrally declared programmes is both a moral and organisational responsibility of every committee. If the concerned leaders fail to provide satisfactory explanations in person within the stipulated 48 hours, strict organisational action will be taken in accordance with the party constitution,” they said.
