Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed has been arrested in Dubai in connection with a corruption case filed by Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), according to a senior police official.
The arrest was reportedly carried out with the assistance of Interpol. Bangladeshi authorities were informed of the development through an official letter received on June 12, the official said.
No further details regarding the circumstances of the arrest or any potential extradition process have been disclosed so far.
