Sonargaon Upazila witnessed a strong example of quick humanitarian response after a disabled young man received a wheelchair within an hour of submitting an application to the administration.

Asif Al Zinat, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), personally visited the home of 28-year-old Raju in Lalati village under Kachpur Union and delivered the wheelchair.

Raju, who has been physically disabled since birth, had been confined to his home due to financial hardship and inability to afford mobility support. His family said they had recently applied for assistance, and the administration responded almost immediately.

Raju’s father, Zakir Hossain, expressed gratitude, saying the support has given his son a chance to move outside after years of isolation.

The UNO said assisting vulnerable people is both a duty and a moral responsibility, adding that the administration is committed to ensuring quick support for citizens in need.

Local officials and community representatives were also present during the handover, which residents praised as a positive example of responsive public service.
