Minister of Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain said, "My beloved 'mother' late Begum Zebunnesa passed away on May 6, 2026 (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilahi Rajiun). She was 83 years old at the time of her death. The minister said, "Parents have passed away.
That is why it is natural to be sad. The more prayers can be made for these parents, the more their souls can find peace. Therefore, we should pray more for those whose parents have passed away, seek forgiveness from Allah for them, and donate."
He also said, "None of us will live forever." However, as long as we are alive, we have to make time for our parents and take care of them even in our busy schedules.
The minister said this at a prayer mahfil organized by the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Department of Social Services in Agargaon today to pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul of the late Minister for Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs, Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, MP, on the death of her beloved 'mother' Begum Jebunnesa.
At the prayer mahfil, Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf said that the late Begum Jebunnesa was a dedicated educationist. This teacher, who dedicated her life to the teaching profession, educated countless students with her talent and qualifications. Numerous of her students are currently making important contributions to the state and society by establishing themselves in the country.
She was an ideal mother. As an ideal mother, she also raised her children with good education and moral values. Late Begum Jebunnesa was very religious, good-natured, thrifty and modest. Her compassion for people, especially the poor and children, was exemplary.
At the prayer and supplication ceremony, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Md. Kamal Uddin, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Shabnam Mostari, Director General of the Department of Social Services Shah Mohammad Mahbub, among others, spoke in memory of the late.
The ceremony was attended by Additional Secretaries of the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Joint Secretaries, Heads of Departments/Organizations under the Ministry, officials and employees of the Department of Social Services and the Ministry, and young children from the children's families.
20 orphan Hafiz children under the capitation grant completed the Quran 6 times in the name of the late Begum Jebunnesa's soul.
Finally, a special prayer meeting was conducted by Hafez Maulana Mufti Masum Billah, the Pesh Imam of Dhanmondi Sobhanbagh Jame Mosque, seeking the forgiveness of the soul of the Honorable Minister's beloved mother.
