In recognition of her extraordinary contribution to raising educated and accomplished children despite immense socio-economic hardships, Tahmina Begum Chowdhury of Burichang Upazila in Cumilla has been honoured with the prestigious “Ratnagarbha Mother” Award this year.
The award was conferred by Azad Products as part of its annual initiative to celebrate exemplary mothers across the country. This year, 25 mothers were honoured in the general category, while 10 others received awards in the special category.
Organisers described the “Ratnagarbha Mother” as a visionary and dedicated architect of future generations, capable of preparing children to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century through education, moral values, and social responsibility.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Managing Director of Azad Products said the initiative was aimed at expressing profound respect for mothers and strengthening public awareness regarding the importance of maternal influence in expanding education nationwide.
“A mother is the first teacher within a family.
The foundation of an enlightened and morally grounded generation is built by mothers. Behind every successful child stands an ideal mother — a true Ratnagarbha Mother,” he remarked.
Tahmina Begum Chowdhury’s life story reflects remarkable perseverance and sacrifice. In the difficult years following Bangladesh’s independence, she faced severe financial constraints and social challenges while raising a large family. Despite the hardships, she remained unwavering in her determination to ensure proper education and moral upbringing for all nine of her children.
Known for her intellect and deep commitment to education, she dedicated her life to nurturing her children into responsible and accomplished citizens. Today, all nine of her children have attained higher education and are serving the nation in various important professional capacities.
Owing to the success and reputation of her children, Tahmina Begum Chowdhury has earned widespread admiration in her community and is affectionately referred to as the “Proud Mother,” the “Mother of a Magistrate,” the “Mother of a Commissioner,” the “Mother of Madam,” and the “Mother of a Journalist.”
Earlier, in 2021, she was also recognised as the Best Joyeeta in the “Successful Mother” category in Burichang Upazila. Her life and achievements continue to inspire many, embodying the enduring strength, sacrifice, and vision of motherhood in Bangladesh.
