World Day Against Child Labor-2026 was celebrated in Gopalganj with the theme 'Say No to Child Labor - Ensure a Decent Working Environment'.
On Monday (June 29) at 11 am, a procession was taken out from in front of the District Administration Building under the joint initiative of the District Administration and the Department of Factory and Institution Inspection. The procession circled various roads of the city and ended in front of the District Administration Building.
Later, the discussion meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room "Swachhta" was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Md. Arif-uz-Zaman.
The meeting was moderated by Iftekharul Kabir, Labor Inspector (General) of the Gopalganj District Office of the Department of Factories and Establishments Inspection.
The discussion meeting was addressed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Shobhan Sarkar, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Kazi Humayun Rashid, General Secretary of the Gopalganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Masudur Rahman Masud, Labor Inspector (General) Rafiqul Hasan Limon, Manager (Administration) of JK Polymer Industries Limited Qutub Uddin and many others.
The welcome address at the event was delivered by Deputy Inspector General of the Gopalganj District Office of the Department of Factories and Establishments Inspection HM Shahadat.
The speakers said that child labor is a social problem that affects the normal physical, mental and educational development of children. They stressed the importance of raising awareness among parents about the causes of child labor, its harmful effects, ways to eliminate it, and the need for joint efforts by the government, employers, parents, and society to ensure the rehabilitation of working children.
