Kishoreganj Municipality unveils Tk 75 crore budget

Kishoreganj Municipality on Monday announced a proposed budget of nearly Tk 75 crore for the 2026–27 fiscal year, with priority given to infrastructure development and improved civic services.
The budget was formally presented by Jebun Nahar Shammi, Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Local Government Division and Municipal Administrator, at a ceremony held at the municipality auditorium.
The proposed budget totals Tk 74.94 crore. Of the total projected income, Tk 35.03 crore is expected from the revenue sector, Tk 5.07 crore from water supply, Tk 7.13 crore from development grants and revenue, Tk 25.28 crore from project funding, and Tk 2.45 crore from capital sources.
The municipality has projected a budget surplus of Tk 1.85 crore. On the expenditure side, allocations include Tk 33.29 crore for revenue, Tk 5.06 crore for water supply, Tk 7.10 crore for development activities, Tk 25.25 crore for projects, and Tk 2.40 crore for capital expenditure.
Presenting the budget, Administrator Jebun Nahar Shammi said improving the quality of civic services remains the municipality's top priority. Key focus areas include tree plantation, environmental protection, dengue awareness, education, healthcare, recreation, information technology, safe drinking water, waste collection and disposal, drainage and road construction and renovation, urban infrastructure development, construction of a multi-storey municipal super market, and city cleanliness.
The budget announcement was attended by Municipal Executive Officer Syed Shafiqur Rahman; Ward-9 Councillor-in-Charge and Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Dr. Sadikur Rahman; Ward-7 Councillor-in-Charge and LGED Executive Engineer Enayet Kabir; Ward-3 Councillor-in-Charge and Public Works Department Executive Engineer Md. Mohiuddin Jahangir; Ward-6 Councillor-in-Charge and DPHE Executive Engineer Mahbubur Rahman; Ward-8 Councillor-in-Charge and District Primary Education Officer Md. Shafiqul Islam, among others.
Municipal Executive Engineer Rafiqul Islam, Accounts Officer Sirajul Islam, and representatives from various professions and civil society also attended the budget presentation ceremony.
