Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP) has intensified its rescue and relief operations across several flood- and landslide-hit districts, working alongside local administrations, the Fire Service and other emergency agencies to protect lives and assist affected communities.
Following special directives from the Ansar-VDP Headquarters, members have been deployed round the clock in high-risk districts, including Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati, Habiganj, Khagrachhari and Thakurgaon, to carry out rescue operations, raise public awareness and provide humanitarian assistance.
In Cox's Bazar, where continuous heavy rainfall and flash floods have affected Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar Sadar, Pekua, Chakaria and Maheshkhali, Ansar-VDP personnel have been evacuating residents to safe shelters, conducting awareness campaigns through loudspeaker announcements, rescuing stranded people by boat and helping save livestock. They have also distributed emergency relief to affected families and cleared fallen trees and landslide debris from roads to restore communication.
In Bandarban's Naikhongchhari and Lama upazilas, Hill VDP members have been removing mud and uprooted trees from roads cut off by landslides, helping restore transport links and facilitating the delivery of emergency medical services and relief supplies.
In Rangamati, members are carrying out precautionary activities in landslide-prone areas, including Natunpara, Rupnagar and Shimultali, as well as at shelters such as Loknath Temple and the Open University shelter centre. They are urging residents to move to safer locations and follow official safety instructions.
In Habiganj's Laskarpur Union, Ansar-VDP members are rescuing flood-affected residents, with particular attention to women, children and elderly people, while also providing safe drinking water, humanitarian assistance and rescuing livestock.
Similar operations are continuing in Thakurgaon and Khagrachhari, where members are supporting local authorities through rescue missions, public awareness campaigns, security measures and relief distribution.
Ansar-VDP said its members remain committed to serving the public despite significant personal risk. The force noted that its coordinated response with local authorities has played an important role in protecting lives and property while strengthening public confidence in the country's disaster response efforts.
