Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud visited the Comilla Range and District Office on Sunday (July 12). During the visit, he reviewed the activities of the Sanjivan Project, exchanged views with the members of the Sanjivan Platoon, and inspected the Bangladesh Army's Summer Exercise-2026. During this time, he emphasized on increasing the skills and public service capacity of the members of the Sanjivan Platoon and called for them to play an active role in national security and disaster management.

In the morning, the Director General participated in a discussion meeting titled 'Sanjivan Platoon Formation, Project Selection and Things to Do for Members' with the members of the Laksam Upazila Sanjivan Platoon in the Comilla Range. In the meeting, he gave detailed instructions on the implementation strategy, work plan, responsibilities of members and future course of action of the Sanjeevan Platoon.

He emphasized on developing the habit of saving among the members and said that financial planning is very important for running a sustainable project. He also called for increasing the use of solar power (solar panels) to reduce dependence on electricity. He mentioned that electricity is an important element, be it poultry farming, fish farming or cattle farming. Therefore, members should become self-reliant through alternative energy systems.

The Director General assured the members that all the important trainings required for running the project, including financial management, technical knowledge and skill development, will be completed in phases under the supervision of the force. As a result, the members will be able to ensure sustainable income by implementing the project with skill and confidence and the achievement of the desired goals of the Sanjeevan project will be accelerated.

Later, the Director General visited the Bangladesh Army's Summer Exercise-2026 in Lalmai. This is the first time that voluntary members of the Upazila and Thana Sanjeevan Ansar Platoon of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force are participating in this exercise, which is organized to strengthen national defense capabilities, increase inter-force coordination, and make the people's participation-based defense system more effective.

Addressing the members of the Sanjeevan Platoon participating in the exercise, the Director General said that through the Sanjeevan project, in addition to their own socio-economic development, they should have the mentality of dedicating themselves to serving the country at any time for the needs of national security. He urged them to be always ready for flood and disaster management, tree plantation, drug prevention, and other public security and social activities.

He also said that the military knowledge, techniques, and skills that the Ansar and VDP members participating in this army training are acquiring will increase the overall capacity of the force if they are spread among other members of their respective platoons. Through this, a more efficient, integrated, and prepared public security structure will be developed at the local level, which will play an important role in making the national security system stronger and more effective.

The Director General emphasized on maintaining honesty, discipline and morality and instructed the members to refrain from any kind of immoral activities. His inspection and guidance have provided new enthusiasm and inspiration to the members participating in the exercise in performing their duties.

Comilla Range Commander Mohd. Mahbubur Rahman and other officials were present during the inspection.
