Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP) members carried out an overnight awareness campaign in Feni's Fulgazi upazila as rising water levels in the Muhuri River heightened fears of flooding following continuous rainfall and upstream hill runoff.
The river's water level has approached the danger mark, triggering flood concerns in low-lying areas, including Monipur and nearby localities. Water has already started entering some residential areas.
In response to the emerging situation, Union VDP team leaders and Ansar-VDP members voluntarily launched a late-night public awareness campaign, using loudspeakers to urge residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert and move to safe shelters if floodwaters continue to rise.
Local residents praised the members for their prompt and humanitarian response, saying their presence has provided reassurance during the unfolding emergency.
Ansar-VDP personnel are also monitoring embankments and other vulnerable points along the river, while local VDP volunteers and rescue teams remain on standby to respond to any emergency arising from the flood situation.
