A robber was arrested at the entrance gate of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by immediate action of Bangladesh Ansar and Ansar members affiliated with the Village Defense Force. At the same time, the stolen mobile phone and cash were recovered and returned to the victim.
On July 17, 2026 (Friday), at approximately 12:50 am, APC Md. Saiful Islam, Ansar member Md. Miraj Uddin and Ansar member Bipul Roy, while on duty at the entrance gate of the airport, saw a person named Md. Shuvo (28) trying to escape after stealing a mobile phone and cash from a fellow passenger.
Realizing the matter, the Ansar members on duty immediately chased him and were able to arrest him red-handed on the spot. Later, the stolen mobile phone and cash were recovered from him and returned to the rightful owner.
Later, the detained person was handed over to the Airport Police Station for necessary legal action.
Members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force have been performing their duties with round-the-clock vigilance, professionalism and responsibility to ensure public safety, prevent crime and ensure a safe environment for passengers at important facilities in the country, including airports. Such immediate action is another shining example of the force's effective role in curbing crime.
