Rajshahi District Police on Monday returned 50 lost mobile phones to their rightful owners after recovering them through technology-based tracking, earning appreciation from the beneficiaries.
The handover ceremony was held at the conference room of the Rajshahi Superintendent of Police's office at around 10:30am, where Superintendent of Police Mohammad Naimul Hasan formally handed over the recovered devices to their owners.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md Shariful Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) A.T.M. Mainul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Sabina Yasmin, along with other senior police officials, were present at the event.
According to Rajshahi District Police, the owners had filed General Diaries (GDs) at eight police stations across the district after losing their mobile phones. Acting on those complaints, the ICT Unit of the Superintendent of Police's Office traced and recovered the devices using technological tools.
The recovered phones included 10 Vivo handsets, nine Samsung, nine Realme, eight Xiaomi, three Tecno, three Oppo, two Infinix, two Itel, two Honor, one OnePlus and one Nokia device.
Speaking at the event, Additional Superintendent of Police and district police spokesperson Sabina Yasmin said they were delighted to return the recovered phones to their rightful owners and that the district police would continue strengthening such technology-driven recovery efforts to serve the public.
The recipients expressed their gratitude after getting back their lost phones and praised Rajshahi District Police for its prompt and effective action. They also expressed hope that the police would continue providing people-centred services and maintaining public trust.
