An awareness exchange meeting on Bangla QR was held at the MBA Bhaban's Professor Abdullah Faruk Multipurpose Conference Hall on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the initiative of the Accounting Department of Dhaka University. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam inaugurated the program. This awareness program was organized with the aim of developing cashless financial management.
The exchange meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Accounting Department, Professor Dr. Makshudur Rahman Sarkar, with Bangladesh Bank Governor Md. Mostaqur Rahman as the chief guest and Dutch-Bangla Bank Managing Director and CEO Md. Ehteshamul Haque Khan as the special guest.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam highlighted the importance of Bangla QR in creating safe digital transactions and a cashless economy and said that Bangla QR will ensure easy, fast and secure digital transactions between all banks, mobile financial services (MFS) and other payment service providers in the country. He expressed the hope that such an initiative will increase awareness among students about digital payments. The Vice-Chancellor thanked the concerned for organizing the awareness program on Bangla QR. He called on the authorities of various government and private banks to come forward to help the insolvent students of the university.
At the program, teachers, students, officials and employees of the accounting department and invited guests were informed about the use, benefits and interoperable digital payment system of Bangla QR. Along with this, live transaction demonstrations, awareness presentations and a question and answer session were held.
