Members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party detained a suspected drug dealer with 49 yaba pills in Khoajpur Union of Madaripur Sadar upazila on Friday night.
The suspect, identified as **Ripon Molla, 38**, was detained at Math Bazar area at around **8:30pm**, following a tip-off and the vigilance of local Ansar Union Team Leader Pavel Hasan.
According to Ansar officials, Ripon had been moving around the area suspiciously for a long time. When approached, he allegedly failed to provide a satisfactory identity and attempted to leave the area.
Pavel Hasan, with assistance from local residents, stopped and searched him, recovering 49 yaba pills, officials said.
During preliminary questioning, the detained man allegedly admitted that he had been in the area intending to sell the drugs.
He was later handed over to Madaripur Sadar Police Station along with the seized yaba for legal action.
