Members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) have repaired a rain-damaged road in Baghachra upazila of Jashore, easing the suffering of local residents.
The road connecting Lakshmipur and Paikpara villages in Darajhat Union had become difficult to use following heavy rainfall. To restore normal movement, Union Team Leader Md Osman Gani, along with two VDP members, took the initiative to repair the damaged section.
They repaired around 140 feet of the road with brick soling, making it usable again within a short time.
Local residents welcomed the initiative, saying the damaged road had caused significant difficulties, particularly after rainfall. The repair has brought relief to pedestrians and residents who rely on the road for their daily travel.
The initiative was praised as an example of the Ansar-VDP’s community engagement and social responsibility. Besides maintaining security and law and order, members of the force regularly take part in disaster response, public service and community development activities across the country.
