Two women were arrested while allegedly attempting to steal money from a patient’s vanity bag at Kaharole Upazila Health Complex in Dinajpur on Saturday.

The suspects were identified as Selina Khatun, 26, and her accomplice Ratna Khatun, 20.

The incident occurred around noon when the two allegedly tried to steal cash from the bag of a female patient who had come to the government hospital for treatment.

Ansar personnel on duty, including PC Md Mojibur Rahman, Ansar Elahi Sharif and Ashraful Alam, noticed the incident and caught the two women red-handed.

The suspects were later handed over to Kaharole police through the hospital authorities.

The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force said its members remain vigilant at government hospitals to help prevent theft and snatching and ensure the safety of patients and visitors.
