Under the proposed pay scale, salaries will increase by between 100% and 142%. The cabinet on Monday approved the proposed ninth pay scale for government employees, with the new structure set to take effect from July this year.
The approval came at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the secretariat in the afternoon.
Under the proposed pay scale, salaries will increase by between 100% and 142%, with the new structure to be implemented in three phases.
The basic salary for Grade 1 employees has been set at Tk156,000, while the minimum salary for Grade 20 employees will be Tk20,000.
The ninth pay scale also introduces, for the first time, an allowance for government employees with children with disabilities. The monthly allowance will be Tk3,000.
The cabinet meeting began at the Cabinet Division’s meeting room at the secretariat on Monday afternoon.
A press conference is scheduled to be held at 7pm at the PID conference room of the Ministry of Information following the meeting.
