UNDP Bangladesh Resident Representative Stephen Rodriques has praised the Election Commission (EC) for successfully conducting the national election, calling it a major turning point for Bangladesh.
Speaking after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin and other EC officials, Rodriques described the election as one of the most successful and largest polls in the world.
He said UNDP, along with other UN agencies and development partners, was proud to support the election process.
The meeting also discussed preparations for the upcoming local government elections. Rodriques said UNDP and other UN agencies were ready to provide further assistance if the EC requests it.
He expressed hope that cooperation among the EC, government, civil society and citizens would help ensure peaceful, free and fair local elections.
