Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP) is seeking to create new self-employment opportunities for its vast volunteer network through its flagship “Sanjiban Project,” with a particular focus on the fisheries and livestock sectors.
The initiative aims to reduce members’ dependence on formal employment by turning them into skilled, self-reliant workers and entrepreneurs. Since the beginning of 2026, the formation of “Sanjiban Platoons” at the upazila and village levels has been accelerated across the country.
Against this backdrop, Fisheries and Livestock State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, MP, held a courtesy meeting with Ansar-VDP Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmood on September 10.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to involve members of Sanjiban Platoons in fisheries- and livestock-based self-employment, as well as opportunities for cooperation between the relevant agencies.
The initiative seeks to connect Ansar-VDP’s extensive grassroots organisational network with production and economic activities. Officials believe the disciplined and organised workforce, with its strong presence at the local level, could contribute significantly to expanding rural entrepreneurship.
