Members of Bangladesh Ansar arrested an alleged member of a broker gang while he was trying to lure patients from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital in Dhaka to a private clinic.
The operation was conducted at around 5:15pm on Saturday, September 5, at the hospital in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar under Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar’s West Zone.
According to Ansar officials, members of the gang were allegedly trying to convince patients admitted to CCU-2 on the second floor to shift to a private clinic by promising them better treatment.
After noticing the activity, Ansar members led by Camp In-Charge PC Md Aminul Haque launched an operation and caught Md Sohag Hossain, 20, red-handed. Ansar members Md Rubel Hossain and Saiful Islam also took part in the operation.
Sohag, son of Md Hira Ali, is a resident of Chand-er Hat Math area in Mohammadpur, while his current address is on Humayun Road in the same area.
Later, on the authorities’ instructions, Ansar handed Sohag over to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station for legal action.
Ansar officials said such operations are aimed at protecting patients and their relatives from fraud and harassment by hospital brokers.
