Rajshahi Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Md Ashik Sayeed on Tuesday held a meeting with journalists working in Rajshahi city.
The meeting was held at around 12:00pm at the conference room of the Rajshahi Range DIG’s office.
During the meeting, journalists raised various social issues and concerns over the law and order situation in the region. They also shared their views and suggestions on ensuring police services reach people at the grassroots.
Listening to the journalists, DIG Ashik Sayeed assured them that necessary measures would be taken to ensure that people do not face harassment or unnecessary difficulties while seeking police or legal services.
He said strict action would be taken against drug dealers, terrorists and extortionists. No one would be spared if allegations of corruption or irregularities within the police were found to be true, he added.
The DIG also stressed the need for the police to play a more responsible and people-oriented role in maintaining law and order.
Seeking cooperation from journalists, he said the media plays an important role in bringing various irregularities and criminal activities in society to light. Cooperation between the police and the media can help ensure public safety and welfare, he added.
Additional DIG Din Mohammad, commandant of the Rajshahi Reserve Police Force (RRF), Rajshahi District Superintendent of Police Md Mamun-or-Rashid, and other senior police officials were present at the meeting.
