Bangladesh Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam has called for stronger international cooperation to develop sustainable, resilient and inclusive infrastructure.
Speaking at the opening session of the Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference (GICC) 2026 in Seoul on Tuesday, the minister said infrastructure development is a key driver of economic growth, regional connectivity and social development.
The three-day conference, organised by South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and managed by the International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK), is being held under the theme “Cooperation on Global Infrastructure Projects Opened by AI.”
Sheikh Rabiul stressed the importance of combining financing with modern technology, knowledge and technical expertise. He called for greater exchange of technology and experience among countries to build resilient and sustainable infrastructure.
He said Bangladesh, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is committed to developing an integrated, efficient, low-carbon and climate-resilient transport system.
Bangladesh is keen to deepen infrastructure cooperation with South Korea and other international partners through government-to-government cooperation, foreign direct investment, concessional financing and public-private partnerships, he said.
The minister also highlighted Bangladesh’s interest in technology transfer, knowledge sharing, skills development and joint infrastructure projects with international partners.
Bangladesh’s participation in GICC 2026 is expected to strengthen infrastructure cooperation with South Korea and create new opportunities for investment, technology transfer and joint projects.
