A 5-member delegation led by Prof. Dr. Tae Wha Lee of Yonsei University College of Nursing, Korea called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam today, September 23, 2026 at the latter’s office of the university. Others members of the delegation were Sujin Kong, Deputy Country Director of KOICA Bangladesh and Bhutan, Dr. Jung Eun of Yonsei University College of Nursing, Seunga Cho, Program Manager of KOICA Bangladesh and Bhutan and Md. Nur Chowdhury, Program Officer of KOICA Bangladesh.
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of DU Prof. Dr. Nadim Ahmed, Dean of Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Sciences and Research Prof. Ahmed Sami-Al-Hasan, Director of the Office of Public Relations Md. Rafiqul Islam, Inspector of Colleges (Acting) A. K. M Amjad Hossain, Director of Directorate General of Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) Nahid ul Mostaque and Director of NIANER Dipali Rani Mallick were present on this occasion.
During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of introducing PhD Program in Nursing at the National Institute of Advanced Nursing Education and Research (NIANER) under the University of Dhaka with the support and cooperation from KOICA.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam thanked the KOICA team members for their visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in its academic and research activities. He stressed the need for expansion of academic and research collaboration with renowned academic institutions around the world to enhance the qualities of researches. He assured the guests of providing all possible support and cooperation in introducing PhD Program at NIANER to promote Nursing education and research in Bangladesh.
It may be mentioned that the National Institute of Advanced Nursing Education and Research (NIANER) is the first national post-graduate school of nursing in Bangladesh. It was initiated in 2023 funded by KOICA, implemented by Yonsei University college of Nursing in collaboration, with the Government of Bangladesh.
