Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) has marked a significant milestone with the formation of the Alumni Association of its Faculty of Agriculture, aiming to institutionalize the unity, experience, and professional commitment of its graduates. The historic decision was made at a vibrant and meaningful general meeting held on February 28, 2026, at the Faculty Conference Room.
The session was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Md. Nasimul Bari and attended by senior university officials, faculty members, and a large number of alumni. The gathering evolved into a heartfelt reunion where shared memories blended with renewed responsibility and collective aspirations for the future.
During the meeting, participants discussed practical initiatives to enhance academic excellence, research collaboration, student mentorship, employment networking and industry–academia partnerships. A 31-member Convening Committee was unanimously formed.
Md. Mohiuddin Mazumder, an alumnus of the first batch and currently serving as Additional Deputy Director at the Department of Agricultural Extension (Plant Protection Wing), Khamarbari, Dhaka, was appointed Convener. Mahmuda Akter, a fifth-batch alumna and Assistant Professor of Soil Science, was selected as Member Secretary.
The Vice-Chancellor of GAU, Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman, described the initiative as “a proud and transformative step,” emphasizing that alumni are the living strength of a university. He expressed confidence that their active engagement would accelerate institutional development and support accreditation efforts by the Bangladesh Accreditation Council. The newly formed platform is expected to foster enduring bonds between GAU and its graduates, strengthening the university’s journey toward national and global recognition.
