On the occasion of National and International Sports Day, various programs were organized on Monday under the annual sports program of the Department of Sports.
The programs included a rally, discussion meeting, volleyball competition, and prize distribution ceremony. The event was organized at the district stadium by the Gaibandha District Sports Office with the support of the District Sports Association.
The volleyball competition and rally were inaugurated by the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Masudur Rahman Molla.
This year’s theme was, “Sports as a profession ensures family support; we will build bridges through sports and remove barriers.”
The discussion meeting was chaired by District Sports Officer Md. Alamgir Hossain. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) AKM Hedayetul Islam spoke at the event.
Several sports organizers, journalists, and former players were also present.
A total of 6 teams participated in the volleyball competition. The opening match was played between Gaibandha Football Academy and Mahimaganj Technical Team.
The Deputy Commissioner said that sports help maintain a healthy mindset and that youth can play a key role in preventing drug abuse. He encouraged young people to stay involved in sports alongside their studies.
