Serious allegations of irregularities, corruption, and administrative dysfunction have been raised against Junia Islamia Dakhil Madrasa in Telikhali Union of Bhandaria Upazila, Pirojpur.
Locals and guardians claim that the institution, established in 1990 and enlisted under MPO in 2001, is now facing a severe crisis due to mismanagement. The madrasa currently has 16 teachers and 4 staff members.
According to allegations, Engineer Md. Nurul Amin Talukdar served as chairman from 2006 to 2024. In 2025, his son Shakil Parvez Talukdar was appointed chairman without any election, which sparked dissatisfaction among locals.
Residents claim that although the committee was formed about nine months ago, the current chairman has not attended the madrasa even once, nor held any meetings. It is also alleged that important official documents, including the resolution register, have been kept at his residence in Dhaka, which is against rules.
In January 2026, irregularities were reported in the recruitment of a clerk. As per rules, written and oral exams should have been conducted at the madrasa, but this did not happen.
Although Kamal Hossain was appointed to the clerk position, he has not yet joined, and his name does not appear in the attendance register. However, records show that a salary was withdrawn in his name for March 2026.
The appointee stated that he is still working at a garment factory in Dhaka and could not join due to illness.
The madrasa superintendent, Maulana Md. Belayet Hossain, said that these decisions were made by the chairman, not by him.
When contacted, Shakil Parvez Talukdar denied being the chairman and claimed he did not even know what position he held.
Locals allege that the institution is being run through family influence and that financial transactions took place in the recruitment process. They claim that the institution is being pushed toward collapse.
Angry residents and guardians have demanded the cancellation of the current committee, withdrawal of illegal appointments, and fresh recruitment through a transparent process. They also called for an immediate investigation to restore proper governance.
