Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) has said its preparations are now at the final stage to help ensure that the upcoming Bogura-6 (Sadar) by-election and the Sherpur-3 (Sreebardi-Jhenaigati) election are held in a free, fair and peaceful environment.
The force said a coordinated and accountable structure has been put in place by combining professionalism, neutrality and technology-based management.
Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud attended a preparatory assembly as the chief guest at Jhenaigati Upazila Stadium in Sherpur on the occasion.
Members assigned to 128 polling centres in the Sherpur-3 constituency took part in the assembly. At the same time, the event was linked live with a gathering in Bogura district through a giant screen, adding a new dimension to overall coordination, supervision and technological capability. In the elections scheduled to be held on 9 April 2026, a total of 1,704 Ansar and VDP members will be deployed at 128 polling centres in Sherpur-3, while 1,990 members will perform duties at 150 polling centres in Bogura Sadar upazila.
Altogether, 3,694 members will be deployed to maintain security at 278 polling centres in the two constituencies. Each polling centre will have 13 members on duty, including one armed Ansar member responsible for ensuring the security of the presiding officer.
